Mother’s Day: Is It a Good or Bad Day for You?

Published by pinkink at 8:33 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate mothers or other nurturing individuals in our lives. For many today is a celebratory day in which you can enjoy the past memories you have made and look forward to a future filled with new, wonderful times.

If today is a celebratory day for you, put any anxieties and worries aside and spend some quality time with your mom either in person or over the phone (if you live far away from her).

However, for other individuals, today is not a celebratory day. Instead, Mother’s Day might bring back painful memories or feelings of loss, grief, anger, or resentment. If your mom passed away, you might feel sad and lonely today. If you don’t have a good relationship with your mom, you may feel lonely, angry, sad, and/or frustrated. If your mom abused or neglected you, you might harbor anger, resentment, and frustration toward her.

If Mother’s Day is difficult for you for any reason, give yourself time to think and feel the things you need to. Allow time to nurture yourself as well. Put your anxieties and other feelings aside for just a little while to do something that makes you feel good about yourself.

Here are some ideas of things you can do to nurture yourself today:

-Take a walk in the park
-Take a bubble bath
-Read a great book
-Paint, draw, or write
-Spend some quality time with your pet/s
-Treat yourself to something good to eat or drink
-Listen to your favorite music

Nurturing yourself can help you get through this difficult day, and it reminds you that you deserve to be nurtured.

Wishing you a worry-free day.
