My Dad’s Visit: Update

Published by pinkink at 6:34 pm under Uncategorized, overcoming anxiety Edit This

A couple of days ago, I posted about how anxious I was over my dad’s visit, and I wanted to let everyone know how that went.

The visit went surprisingly well! I tried to stick to pretty light conversation: my cats, what I’m currently doing for work, the weather, and so forth. I also asked some questions about some of the other members of my family, which both kept the focus off of me and helped me learn what has been going on with my loved ones.

We all had fun playing mini-golf at a course I had never been to before, and I even beat my dad at the game! I also finally had the chance to try the new Waffle Bowl at Dairy Queen, and it was delicious!!

If I felt anxious during the visit, I calmed myself down by thinking of my cats, looking at pictures of my cats, or just tried to focus on breathing and staying in the moment.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well the visit went, and I truly enjoyed myself on Friday. I hope the next time I see my father it goes as well as it did on Friday. :)

I hope everyone has been having a great weekend!

have you seen how there are times that you can get yourself (not you, sierra, but “you” as in general mass) worked up for what turns out to be nothing?? I find myself in this situation all the time with my anxiety, most times than not it turns out to be nothing like I feared;)

Glad it went well. Often I’ve found, after the fact of course, that the things that I’m most anxious about are the things that I had the very least to worry about.
