Successfully Manage Your Time, College Students!

Published by pinkink at 9:36 pm under Types of Anxiety Edit This

Managing your time is hard in college, but if you do not already have good time management skills, you can easily develop them.

Use A Planner: Get a daily planner and use it regularly. When you get your class syllabi, write down all of the due dates for papers and all of the test dates for each exam. It might be helpful to write down each assignment or test date for each class in a different color. This way, you can glance at your daily planner and know what you need to do for that day or week, allowing you to plan your days and weeks appropriately.

Make Schedules: Make yourself a basic weekly schedule with your classes and other meetings blocked out on it. When you know what time you have free, you can more easily schedule time to stay and take care of yourself.

Make Prioritized To-Do Lists: Before you go to bed or right after you wake up in the morning, make a to-do list for the day. Include all of the things you want to get done on your to0do list. After you’ve made the list, go back and place a number by each item, with 1 signifying the most important thing you need to do, 2 signifying the second most important thing you need to do, and so forth.

Then, as your day goes on, follow your list in the order you gave it or re-prioritize if you need to.

Get Started Early: If you know you have an exam in a week, start studying for it that night. Study for the exam for an hour or two each night for about a week before the exam instead of studying for the test the night before for several hours. You will retain more information when you study over the period of several days than you will when you cram.

Likewise, when you have a term paper due, start on it early in the semester so that you are not struggling to get it done at the last minute. You will have a better quality paper when you can take your time getting it done than when you wait to do it at the last minute.

Managing your time in college can be difficult, but students can use these tips to successfully manage their time.
