Sorority Recruitment Tips for Reducing Anxiety and Having Fun
If you are a college freshman or sophomore, you are probably both anxious an excited about rush/recruitment. Everyone wants to be liked and accepted, and many girls want to be in a sorority to feel like part of a bigger family while they are away from home. If you are going to go through recruitment, use these tips to help you.
Be Yourself: Perhaps the most important thing to remember during recruitment is to be yourself. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not to fit into the sorority. Being yourself gives you a chance to see if you would fit well in a particular house and gives the house a chance to see if they think you’d fit well there, too.
Ask Questions: Recruitment is the perfect time to ask all of your questions about the sororities you are visiting. Ask about your responsibilities and benefits of being a house members, so that you will fully understand the responsibilities of being a part of a particular sorority. For instance, some sororities require that everyone take turns on “wake-up duty”. There are also fees to join sororities, so you may want to ask about the financial requirements of being in each sorority as well.
Everyone likes it when you take an interest in what they do, so when the sorority explains their philanthropic cause to you, be sure to take an interest and ask any questions you may have about it. They will also be interested in what community service activities you participate in, and how you can contribute to the sorority’s community service cause.
Keep an Open Mind: It is important to keep an open mind while going through recruitment. You may already have friends in one sorority, but remember that you need to find the best fit for you - choose the sorority you feel most comfortable with.
Have Fun: Recruitment can be an intense process. It can be nerve-wracking, too. Try to remember to have fun while you are going through recruitment. Each sorority wants you to feel comfortable and have a good time with them.
Recruitment is an exciting process. Remember, keep an open mind, be yourself, have fun, and choose the sorority you feel most comfortable with. Additionally, remember if you don’t feel joining a sorority is for you after you go through recruitment, it is okay not to join a house.
